The majesty of old Russia is powerfully evident in this beautiful collection of Russian icons which shows a wide range of the iconographer's art. These icons date from the 18th century to the the 20th century, and many retain their original kiots, which are decorative boxes to hold and protect icons, Many of these kiots came from churches and monasteries in Russia, and are works of art in their own right. This is an intimate selection of inspirational and historical icons from that gives a cross section of traditional styles used in executing these spectacular images. These icons have been selected for both their spiritual and visual impact.
The slide show below includes 31 pieces from the exhibit. Up to 40 Russian Orthodox items are available for the exhibit.
